Chip and Joanna Gaines, the king and queen of farmhouse style, are familiar to most of us from their show Fixer Upper on HGTV. But with Fixer Upper coming to an end will that also be an end of Farmhouse Style? Is Farmhouse Style passé or just undergoing a transformation?
Farmhouse Style has been a very popular design look.
With the rustic pieces and shiplap walls it seems like the phenomenon was here to stay. But, there is a change occurring. Farmhouse Style is transforming into a new and improved design look, kindly referred to as Modern Farmhouse Style. What is Modern Farmhouse Style you ask? Think of it as the best of Contemporary design mixed with a few rustic country pieces. It is the tasteful combination of rustic and modern for a sophisticated comfortable environment that is approachable and not pretentious.
You might think the combination of the two styles would not work together, but when done thoughtfully and not in excess the aesthetic can be very inviting.
For example, pairing a modern mirror with a rustic table tastefully incorporates old and new as seen here.
Another example combines a farmhouse table with modern seating. You may think this combination would never provide a cohesive look, but it does! Mixing modern contemporary with farmhouse cozy can and does work if it is not overdone. By using a variety contemporary pieces paired with just a couple of farmhouse items, the Modern Farmhouse look can be a success!
Farmhouse style is undergoing a transformation.
To begin your Modern Farmhouse Style journey, select a couple of inviting rustic elements and add clean line contemporary pieces to stylize a beautiful, inviting, cozy environment. Just remember, less is more.
Farmhouse Style is not totally passé. It is experiencing a new and improved transformation defined by clean lines and simplicity, creating a cozy and inviting environment.
