Have you ever found a wonderful piece but didn’t know what you would do with it? I turned this great piece of wood into a unique way to hang pictures!
I found this amazing piece of wood at a thrift store. I bought it not knowing what I was going to transform it into, but knew I had to grab it up! After some thought I decided I would make this great piece of wood into an easy and unique way to hang pictures!
This piece must have had a previous life as a part of a dresser or some piece of antique furniture. It was in great shape and beautifully detailed. I was thrilled to have found it!
To begin the process of turning this great piece of wood into an easy and unique way to hang pictures I went to JoAnn Fabric and Crafts to stimulate my mind on how I would approach this. I decided I would back my pictures with pretty papers for some color consistency.
If you are a crafter or designer scrapbooking papers can be additive!
There are so many beautiful and creative papers available now. I think I was in JoAnn Fabric and Crafts for literally an hour trying to decide what to purchase for this project.
Since my plan was to hang this at the cottage I found papers in the peach and aqua theme which fits in well with the color scheme I have going on there. One of the scrapbook sheets had great affirmations which redirected my first thought of hanging picture to hanging positive thoughts!
First, I cut out the affirmations I wanted to use. Then based on the shape of the affirmation I cut a background paper, leaving about an inch of boarder. I then used double faced tape to attach the affirmation to the backing.
The piece of wood had two small holes on the bottom at each end, which was perfect to attach a piece of string. And when purchasing the papers, I found cute miniature clothes pins that I knew I wanted to use to hang the pictures.
The whole piece came together as an easy and unique way to hang pictures.
When you find that unique and wonderful thing don’t be afraid to grab it even if you don’t know what you will do with it right then. If you love it you will find a way to use it!
